When I joined Kendriya vidayalaya JOKA during 1984 the school looked like an ashram with handy 200 students distributed in 7classes constituting of only one section in each class .only 10-12 teachers were engaged in the school .

The surrounding of the school really charmed me .the school is situated in the Indian Institute of Management campus .The institute stands beside the Diamond Harbour Road .The entire campus is filled with various type of big trees ,ponds an ideal pollution free environment for the students just at the outskirts of huge and cry of kolkata city.

The school started developing from 1986 numbers of sections in each class were increasing with the proportionate increase in of teachers.
Gradually some new premises were covered under the school management and the school and the school was raised to higher secondary standard .Consequently science laboratories ,music room with musical instrument school band, first aid equipment were provided .Games & Sports and annual functions were arranged .small library was trans formed to big one school-buses were provided for drawing students from different corners of kolkata city & surrounding areas of the district of 24pgs(s) The students have now been participating in some of the state level and even National level competition .In 1993-94 the students of our school had been qualified for IIT .Our school is now provided with the modern most techniques of education .We are now shifting to the new complex to be inaugurated shortly .We have now an over-all student strength of about 800 (Aprox) We maintain a cordial relationship with the parents of the students meeting them every now & then .Special classes are arranged as and when necessary.

Our effort is to look to the all round development of a student, not only in his academic career but a social creature as well Our school is now in a position to compete with other vidyalayas. But if I retrospect I find some thing missing I seek to retreat and remember some lines of Shakespeare:"Happy were those early days That never come back again. Now only summon up, Remembrance of things past, Could see glimpse of bright thoughts, All lures will be restored . And sorrows end 'Tempest of memories end in a tranquility,When you feel GOD'S presence
